It has been a disappointing start to the season for West Ham United. The Hammers find themselves in sixteenth place in the Premier League. They have taken just 13 points from their 12 games. The pressure is mounting on Manuel Pellegrini.
West Ham United Will Turn to Rafa Benitez Should Pellegrini Depart
Benitez Remains Focused on Bringing Success to Dalian Yifang
Manuel Pellegrini is under severe pressure at West Ham following a poor start to the season. According to John Richardson of The Mirror, West Ham will turn to Rafa Benitez should they lose patience with the Chilean.
Benitez is currently managing in China following his exit from Newcastle United at the end of last season. He is vastly experienced having managed several clubs across the world. The Spaniard is highly thought off by the West Ham hierarchy but according to Sky Sports, Benitez remains focused on bringing success to his current team Dalian Yifang.
However, Sky Sports have also noted that Benitez does want another crack at the Premier League. Benitez could even return as early as next season.
Pellegrini Needs to Change the Hammers Fortunes
For now, Manuel Pellegrini remains in charge of West Ham, but their form must improve over the next few weeks. The Hammers were tipped to challenge the traditional top six, but they have flattered to deceive. Pellegrini needs a change of fortune with time running to keep his job. The Hammers welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the London Stadium in their next game.
They will have to face a new-look Spurs side with a new manager in the dugout. Whether the club will be able to bring in a permanent manager before the match is yet to be seen. Nevertheless, the Hammers will look to exploit this Tottenham side in flux.
