Welcome to the fifth edition of our EFL League Two review series for the 2019/20 season. This week, we take a closer look at Crawley Town’s comeback against Leyton Orient and Grimsby Town’s thrashing of Port Vale.
EFL League Two: Matchweek 5
Palmer Haunts Old Side
Ollie Palmer came back to haunt old side Leyton Orient with a quickfire brace to hand Crawley all three points at the Breyer Group Stadium.
Josh Wright’s stunning effort into the top corner gave the O’s the lead but they were pegged back just seven minutes later when Nathan Ferguson rattled home a loose ball.
Lee Angol scored from the penalty spot to restore Orient’s lead just after the break, but substitute Palmer then struck twice in two minutes – firstly powering his way around the home defence and finishing past Dean Brill and then tapping Reece Grego-Cox’s cross into an empty net.
Grimsby Pummel Port Vale
A fabulous second-half performance from Grimsby saw them score four times to hammer Port Vale 5-2 at home.
David Worrall put the visitors in front before Jordan Cook ensured that the honours were even at half-time.
Grimsby then eased ahead early in the second half through goals from Moses Ogbu and Matt Green, but Vale remained in the game and pulled one back via Nathan Smith.
The hosts roared once more though, and two more goals late on from Luke Waterfall and James Hanson secured a big home win for the Mariners.
