Joao Cancelo has signed for Manchester City, whilst Danilo moves to Juventus in a swap transfer. There will also be a 30 million euro add on fee. Cancelo signs a contract with the club until 2025. Danilo signs a contract until 2024.
Cancelo For Danilo Swap Deal Complete
The deal has been in the works for weeks; the clubs failed to negotiate the first initial offer. During City’s preparations for the Community Shield against Liverpool negotiations temporarily stopped. The Blues from Manchester managed to defend the title in a challenging match which they won after penalties.
After the victory the negotiations between City and The Old Lady quickly advanced. Danilo and Cancelo successfully passed their medicals and all paperwork is now ready. The swap deal was officially announced by both clubs, only two days before the Premier League transfer deadline.
The deal seems reasonable for both football clubs. Manchester City would have a talented attack-minded right-back that will only improve under Guardiola. Cancelo will provide stiffer competition and cover for Kyle Walker, and his style of play would give more tactical freedom to the Spanish manager.
Danilo Bolster Juventus
New Juve manager Maurizio Sarri reportedly has no interest in the Portuguese player. The Italian seemingly seeks more defensive solidity at the back, thus taking the defensive load off Ronaldo.
On the other hand Juventus will get an experienced player in the name of the Champions League winner. Danilo will probably be a regular starter for the Zebras, with Mattia De Sciglio the club’s other main option. Danilo fits well into Sarri’s Juventus and can prove himself after little game time with Manchester City.
The monetary part of the deal will also be useful for the Italian club. Juventus will collect about 30 million euro without losing squad depth on the right. The club can use Dybala’s fee to strengthen the midfield if he does depart this summer.
The deal was slowed down by some other factors. Danilo’s new salary was a standpoint in negotiations. The Brazilian required the same salary he currently receives at Manchester City but has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut to finalize the deal.
