Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie has joined Eredivise side AZ Alkmaar. The 28-year-old joins on a free transfer, following the termination of his contract at former club Southampton.
Clasie endured a miserable spell at Southampton. Having moved to the south coast in 2015, he made just 49 appearances across the four years he spent at St Mary’s. He has spent the last two seasons out on loan, at Belgian club Club Brugge and fellow Dutch side Feyenoord retrospectively.
Clasie joins former Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar at Alkmaar.

Following his release by Stoke City, Charlie Adam has completed a move to fellow Championship side Reading. The Scottish international has signed a one-year deal.
Reading is Adam’s seventh club as a professional. Having started his career in Scotland with Rangers, he has also endured spells at Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke City. The 33-year-old spent seven years at Stoke, making 156 appearances.
He is the third signing of the summer for Reading manager Jose Gomes, alongside defender Michael Morrison and goalkeeper Joao Virginia.
QPR Add Goalkeeper to Their Ranks
Queens Park Rangers have completed their ninth signing of the summer with the arrival of goalkeeper Dillion Barnes from Colchester United.
The 23-year-old rejected a new deal to remain at the League Two side, and as a result has made the jump two divisions higher.
He made 26 appearances last season for Colchester as they finished eighth in League Two.
