Lys Mousset – Bournemouth Career
23-year-old Mousset joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 for a fee in the region of £5.7 million. He struggled during his first on the south coast, making just 11 appearances and failing to register a goal.
Mousset’s first goal came during the 2017/18 season. The Frenchman scored during Bournemouth’s FA Cup third-round tie against Wigan Athletic. However, he scored just two further goals during the campaign.
Throughout his time at Bournemouth, Mousset has spent the majority of his time on the substitute’s bench. It continued throughout the 2018/19 season, as he made 23 appearances from the bench. His only goal came in his only start, during a 5-1 loss away to Arsenal.
How Will Lys Mousset Fit in at Sheffield United?
Manager Chris Wilder is keen to bolster his attack in a bid to survive in the Premier League. As a result, it is expected that he will be looking to add to his attacking options even after the signing of Mousset.
However, the Frenchman’s experience as a top-flight striker puts him in good stead to be first choice under Chris Wilder. The Blades manager currently has Billy Sharp, Callum Robinson, David McGoldrick and Leon Clarke available. However, only Sharp and Robinson have played in the Premier League; making just six appearances between them.
More to Come at Bramall Lane?
According to Danny Hall of The Star, Chris Wilder is expecting four more signings to arrive at Bramall Lane before the start of the new campaign.
One is expected to be goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who spent last season on loan with the Blades.
