West Ham United have announced the club-record signing of striker Sebastien Haller from German club Eintracht Frankfurt. He has signed a five-year contract to remain at the London Stadium until 2024.
Sebastien Haller Signs For West Ham
Last Season
Last season was Haller’s most emphatic of his two-year spell in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions as Frankfurt finished seventh in the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League.
The Frenchman was part of an Eintracht Frankfurt side who hit the headlines due to their attack. Haller featured alongside Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic, who combined scored 57 goals for the German side in all competitions. As a result, it has seen Jovic sign for Real Madrid.
Replacement For Marko Arnautovic?
It is one star striker out of West Ham in replacement for another. Sebastien Haller is likely to replace Austrian Marko Arnautovic, who left the Hammers to join Chinese side Shanghai SIPG. The Austrian scored 11 goals in all competitions last season.
However, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini currently has a shortage of strikers available to him at the London Stadium. As well as Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez have also left West Ham. As a result, it leaves just Javier Hernandez as the only recognised striker.
What Was Said
Speaking to the West Ham club website, the Frenchman said: “I think it’s a really good opportunity for me to be here.
“For me I can guarantee that I will give 100% for the club because the club has given me this confidence and I will try to give it back every day in every game.
“I know it’s a big transfer and there is a lot of expectation around me, and I just want to make people proud of this transfer and I will give everything I have.”
