Last Season
Konsa joined Championship club Brentford last summer for a reported £2.5 million fee from Charlton Athletic. He was an integral figure at the heart of their defence, making 48 appearances in all competitions.
As a result of his impressive performances, he has earned seven caps for the England U21 side. He was named in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for the U21 European Championships.
What Was Said
Speaking to Aston Villa TV, the 21-year-old said: “I am over the moon. To join such a historic, massive club like Aston Villa is great.
“To be honest, I am speechless right now. It’s a dream come true. As a little kid, I always used to dream about playing in the Premier League.
“For it to come true now is a fantastic feeling for me and my family.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of facing the top players in the world.”
How Will Ezri Konsa Fit in at Aston Villa?
Konza becomes the third central defender that Aston Villa have signed this summer, having already announced the signings of Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings.
However, it is likely that Konsa will be selected alongside Tyrone Mings to start under manager Dean Smith. Smith signed Konsa for Brentford last summer. As a result, he is clearly well-liked by the Villa manager.
Villa have already signed seven players so far this summer and there may still be more to come. Dean Smith is on the hunt for a new goalkeeper to replace Jed Steer.
As a result of the squad overhaul, a new look Villa signed will take to the field for the start of the Premier League season.
