Career So Far
Raya moved to Blackburn as a youngster from UE Cornella in Barcelona. He was sent out on loan to non-league Southport and made a name for himself with an outstanding performance against Derby County in an FA Cup third-round tie.
He went on to play 24 times for the side before returning to Blackburn, where he made his debut in a 3-0 win against Leeds United in April 2015.
Raya claimed the number one spot at the start of the 2016/17 season and he missed just one game as Rovers stormed to League One promotion alongside Wigan Athletic in 2017/18.
He made 41 league appearances for Rovers last season as they comfortably survived on their return to the Championship, keeping ten clean sheets. In total, he made 108 appearances for Blackburn.
What They Said
In an interview with the club website, Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said: “I am very pleased to have David here. He is a very good goalkeeper and fits the profile of player that we want at Brentford. On the pitch, he is a young goalkeeper who comes here after two good seasons at Blackburn Rovers.
“He can play out from the back and is happy covering the space in behind, allowing us to play with a high line. We are 100 per cent sure that coming here, and working with Iñaki Caña, he can take his game to the highest level. Off the pitch, he has the character and the desire that we want to see in all players coming to Brentford.”
