Luton Town are set to complete a deal for full-back Brendan Galloway, according to Football League Zone. The 23-year-old brings Championship experience, having been part of the Sunderland side that was relegated to League One in 2017/18. Galloway has also spent time on loan in the Premier League at West Bromwich Albion, plus is a graduate from rivals MK Dons.
Brendan Galloway Poised For Luton Town Move
Replacement for James Justin?
With the well-documented departure of academy product James Justin, the full-back area is a position that needs addressing. Galloway is a left-sided player who fits the attacking ethos of the club and could fill one of the gaps that Justin leaves vacant, having been adept on either side of the back four.
Stick With What You Know
Having worked with him during his time as Everton assistant manager, manager Graeme Jones will know Galloway well enough to know he’s not a gamble. Even if he is, it’s one worth taking. With a career potentially stagnating, Jones is willing to give Galloway a lifeline in the Championship.
Comparison to Other Additions
Galloway is the youngest of the four additions Graeme Jones has brought to Luton over the past month. As Jones edges closer to completing his preparations, his first pre-season as a manager, bringing players like Galloway will reflect well amongst the Luton faithful.
With yesterday’s addition of Ryan Tunnicliffe from Millwall, Martin Cranie from Sheffield United and Callum McManaman after he left Wigan Athletic, Jones is moulding an already ambitious squad in his image. Adding hungry players with a point to prove to a squad that’s achieved consecutive promotions since getting back into the Football League in 2014, it’s easy to suggest he’s found a recipe for success.
A player who’s yet to experience Championship football won’t exactly be the Messiah. However, Galloway could yet be another piece of the Graeme Jones puzzle.
