Ross Embleton: A Good Appointment

After the tragic loss of Justin Edinburgh, Leyton Orient were left with a huge hole. Mourning the loss of their manager who worked miracles at the club, it has been a tough time for the East London side.

Today, the club officially announced Ross Embleton will be the interim head coach for the forthcoming season. The fixtures for the 2019/20 EFL season are announced tomorrow, thus this timing is perfect for preparation.

At this point, no one can argue with the appointment of Embleton. Returning to the club in 2017, Embleton spent two seasons working with Edinburgh. It goes without saying the two were pivotal backroom staff figures.

Embleton knows the Orient side like the back of his hand, as well as understanding how the squad function and each individual. This decision is a great one, as Embleton is no stranger to the O’s setup.

Jobi McAnuff Appointed Interim Player/Coach

In replacement of Ross Embleton being appointed interim head coach Jobi McAnuff will assume an interim player/coach role at the club.

The 37-year-old will be playing a part on and off the field for the forthcoming season. Having spent a season as the skipper and a fan favourite, McAnuff’s appointment will also be a popular one.

While the former Jamaican international still has playing days in him, it appears as if he is getting ready for life after. His role at Orient could be the first of many coaching roles.

Since returning to the club two years ago, McAnuff has been considered to be a leader. As well as being the club captain, his experience can now be brought forward to lead the club forward in the forthcoming season.

Danny Webb Back in the Dugout

Also making a return to the Brisbane Road dugout is Danny Webb, as he has been appointed interim assistant coach.

The 35-year-old has worked his way through the ranks at the club. Webb was even manager between January 2017 and March 2017.

This is yet another decision which will be popular amongst O’s fans. Familiar with Webb, another internal recruitment that will sit well with many.

He then returned to E10 in July 2017, following the takeover and has since been Youth Team coach. Now Webb returns to the first-team to work alongside Ross Embleton, as Orient look to prepare for their first season back in the EFL for two years.
