Oxford United are in the hunt for Nottingham Forest midfielder, Jorge Grant.
However, as reported by John Challies and Mark Whiley for Lincolnshire Live, Lincoln City are also chasing the 24-year-old.
Jorge Grant on Oxford United’s Radar
Grant Set For League One
Grant, who was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, has interest from two League One clubs but has one year left on his contract.
You could assume that his home county club of Oxford United would be favourites, but newly promoted Lincoln City could also entice the midfielder.
Grant, who began his career with the Reading academy before joining the youth set up at Forest, has been with the club since 2014.
However, during his time at the City Ground, Grant has only featured 20 times.
The midfielder, though, has had some successful loan spells. In 2017, he scored six times in 17 appearances on loan at rivals Notts County.
The following season, Grant spent the entire year on loan with the Magpies, scoring 15 goals in 45 appearances.
In the 2018/19 season, Grant scored twice in 17 appearances for Luton Town, winning promotion to League One. He then ended last season on loan at Mansfield Town, scoring four in 17.
The midfielder can play on either wing but featured more centrally in recent times.
Oxford United
So far, Oxford United have only signed two youngsters in Kevin Berkoe and Sam Allardyce.
However, the U’s are reportedly interested in Motherwell winger Chris Cadden as Karl Robinson looks to bolster his squad.
Oxford could do with another central midfielder, with Cameron Brannagan and Mark Sykes currently the only two naturally available. Grant would add more competition for places, despite other players being able to fill in.
Lincoln City
Following last season’s promotion from League Two, Lincoln will need to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Danny Cowley is yet to make a signing this summer for the Imps, but has lost youngster, Tim Akinola after he joined Championship side Huddersfield Town. Lincoln are also short in attacking midfield areas after Shay McCartan returned to Bradford City.
Notts County winger Enzio Boldewijn has been linked with a move away from Notts County. Lincoln City is a possible destination according to the Nottingham Post’s Leigh Curtis.
The Imps currently have Lee Frecklington, Michael O’Connor, Ellis Chapman and Tom Shaw who can call play in the centre of midfield.
