FTN Football League: Latest on Lewis Holtby, Jese Rodriguez and Doyle

Lewis Holtby to Cardiff City

Cardiff City could be making attempts to sign recently released Hamburg player Lewis Holtby, according to Matthew Davies of Wales Online. This would be a quality addition to Neil Warnock’s squad, especially with Holtby’s experience. His career at Spurs and Fulham in the Premier League will help Cardiff to bounce back for a promotion push.

The attacking midfielder is hard working and enigmatic and would certainly match the Championship standards of physicality. Technically, he is a solid player who has the ability to grab a few goals. But his greatest asset is more his relentless work rate; he is a dynamo in midfield.

Leeds want Jesé Rodriguez

According to Estadio Deportivo, Leeds are in for Jesé Rodriguez. Rodriguez is currently at PSG but has made only six Ligue 1 appearances, instead being loaned out to Stoke City and Real Betis. In both of these loan spells he failed to really impress. However, he still could be a brilliant signing if Marcelo Bielsa decides to stay at the club.

Jesé is a forward with pace and the ability to beat players. He ended his youth career graduating out of Real Madrid and into Real Madrid B, before being promoted into the first team where he made 63 La Liga appearances scoring 13 goals. Now at 26 years of age the Spaniard will be looking to kick on with his rather stagnated career.

Swindon Pursue Bradford City Striker Eoin Doyle

Alan Nixon of The Sun claims that Swindon Town wish to sign Bradford City’s Eoin Doyle. The striker scored 11 goals last season, but could not keep his club from relegation into League Two. Throughout his career he has had plenty of Football League experience, mainly in League One and also the Championship for Cardiff City. His performances with Chesterfield in the 2014/5 season earned him a place in the PFA League One Team of the year.

If Swindon Town can secure his services, he would be a great striker to have against League Two opponents. Even in his last two seasons, he has managed to reach at least 10 goals.
