Smart Football Wagers For the End of the Season

Smart football wagers

With just weeks remaining in the European football season, there are still more questions than answers as to how things will pan out. Two of the major leagues look set to go down to the wire, while the European Championship has been thrown wide open with Manchester City’s shock departure.

At this time of the year, those who enjoy placing a bet are usually turning their attention away from the football and decide to check out online casinos and oddsmaking websites like at free-spins.org. This year, however, the slots and blackjack tables might have to wait a while, as there are some compelling eleventh-hour wagers to be made.

Who Will Rule Europe?

Those who had backed City for the quadruple are now licking their wounds but, as one door closes, another opens. At first glance, you would say that whoever wins out of Liverpool and Barcelona is the hot favourite to be European champion, but if there is one phrase we have heard more than any other during this campaign, it is ‘never rule out Ajax’. They will fancy their chances against a Tottenham Hotspur team that is rapidly running out of strikers, and the 4/1 odds for them to win their first European Cup since 1995 will certainly be tempting many of the neutral fans.

Premier League Survival

Huddersfield Town and Fulham are confirmed for relegation, but who will be joining them? For most of the season, Cardiff City have seemed destined to yoyo back to the Championship, but they are now embroiled in a gritty battle for survival with Brighton & Hove Albion. The Welshmen are still seen as odds on favourites for the drop, but if they can defeat Fulham and Crystal Palace, it could set up a compelling final encounter against Manchester United in which they will have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Top Ten Finishers

There is also plenty still to play for in the middle of the Premier League table. It’s always fun to look beyond the big six, and while Wolves, Watford, Everton and Leicester City are the favourites to complete the top ten, West Ham United and Bournemouth are still in with a shout. For the Hammers, in particular, it would represent an incredible turnaround after the horrors of last year. Every game will be a pivotal one for the remainder of the season, but if there is one thing the past 12 months have shown us it is that this is a team that knows how to tough it out under pressure.

Top Goalscorer

Harry Kane is out of the equation, and this year’s wearer of the golden boot is to close to call. Salah and Aguero are duking it out at the top, while Mane and Aubameyang are breathing down their necks. The bookmakers fancy Salah as warm favourite, but this is another that is going to go down to the wire. For those who think with the head and not the heart, those 5/1 odds on Aubameyang look compelling.
