Summer Of Transition For United

Who Could Leave Old Trafford?

As many as six players have been touted to depart Manchester United during the summer. One highly touted to leave is midfielder Ander Herrera. The Spaniard is out of contract in the summer and looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain. He has featured regularly so far this season, making 20 appearances.

His teammates Juan Mata is also out of contract in the summer. Similar to Herrera, Mata has also featured regularly this season. He joined Manchester United in 2014 and has since made 158 appearances. Mata has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Further departures could include Paul Pogba. Pogba is reportedly looking for a move to Real Madrid. He has previously labelled Madrid a ‘dream club’ to play for. As Real Madrid look to regain form after a terrible season, they may be willing to spend a large amount of their budget to get Pogba. However, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still confident they can keep the Frenchman.

The exodus from Old Trafford is likely to include players on the verge of the first team. Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are all likely to leave. They could be joined by others, should United fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Who Could Join Manchester United?

In a bid to revitalise their squad, Manchester United are targeting several young players across Europe. Jadon Sancho is reported to be one of Solskjaer’s main targets. He has become a first-team regular at Borussia Dortmund this season. So far this season he has eight goals and 13 assists with six games remaining. However, his impressive season has meant Dortmund want £100 million for the 18-year-old.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also a target for United this summer. He is seen as the ‘ideal replacement‘ for Antonio Valencia, who is out of contract in the summer. The right-back has been Crystal Palace’s player of the season this year. He has won four of the Eagles player of the month awards. This has all come during his debut season in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will also be searching for a replacement for Ander Herrera. Declan Rice has been identified as a target. Rice, who can also play in the centre of defence, has impressed in his role in defensive midfield. Similar to Sancho and Wan-Bissaka, he could also command a high transfer fee.
