MK Dons Aiming to Make It Six Wins in a Row on Morecambe Trip

After a series of results that saw them drop out of the League Two play-off places, MK Dons have bounced back in emphatic fashion. A weekend win over struggling Macclesfield Town put the Dons back into the automatic promotion spots, coupled with a loss for Mansfield Town away at Port Vale, and also handed them their fifth straight win in League Two. Another success on the road on Tuesday night would equal a sequence of wins they haven’t achieved since 2008.

MK Dons Hoping to Make a Win Against Morecambe Their Sixth in a Row

A Long Time Coming

Paul Tisdale’s side started the season in excellent form, losing just two games up until the start of December. Their form took a large blow over the festive period, but they finally seem to be back on track having won their last five games.

Five consecutive wins seems to be the number they struggle to get past. They haven’t recorded six straight league wins since 2008 – a run that included victories over Cheltenham Town, Leyton Orient, Tranmere Rovers, Hartlepool United, Walsall and Hereford United.

While the run isn’t the best in the club’s history (eight in the 2007/08 season), equalling that success in the current campaign would be a welcome addition as the club look to secure promotion back to League One at the first time of asking.

Good Omens

There’s very little history between MK Dons and Morecambe – only three games have been played between the two, one of which was the reverse fixture earlier this season. The Dons won that game 2-0, were 1-0 winners in the away game back in 2007/08, and drew 1-1 at home on the final day of that season when they were already league champions.

However, Tisdale’s side are unbeaten in their last 22 matches on a Tuesday in League Two, with the last defeat against a Swindon Town side managed by Dennis Wise in September 2006.

This game could be a banana skin, but with the Dons on form and history seemingly on their side, as well as the Shrimpers languishing towards the bottom of the table, there’s every chance they can equal their sequence of runs from 11 years ago.

Prediction: Morecambe 0-1 MK Dons
