Only a month until the winter transfer window! Despite the strength and dominance showed by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, there is always room for improvement. Which positions do City need to strengthen and who are the potential January targets?

The Manchester City Transfer Wishlist

Goalkeeper Worries

Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has a serious injury, making the 35-year-old keeper unavailable until April 2019. This made it necessary for the club to recall Aro Muric from his loan to NAC Breda and now the Cityzens are planning a new goalkeeper transfer.

City have targetted promising prospects like West Ham’s 20-year-old Nathan Trott and 21-year-old Joe Rodon from Swansea.

But there’s another young goalkeeper that attracted City’s attention – the Irish teen, Gavin Bazunu. Only 16 years of age the prosmising Shamrock Rovers player has agreed a pre-contract deal at Manchester City. This deal means that the young Irish player with ”scary potential” will join the club in 2019.

Fernandinho’s Successor and New Midfielders

The Brazilian defensive midfielder is already 33-year-old and City are thinking of potential replacements. Guardiola’s side have many choices but the most impressive winter transfer window target is Frenkie De Jong. Many clubs are interested in the young Dutch midfielder and the Manchester team would have to spend more than £70 million.

Manchester City are also considering a move for Tanguy Ndombele. The highly-rated young Lyon and France midfielder, who is 21-years-old, is priced at £40 million. The skilful Frenchman is proving his talent and has become one of Ligue 1’s best players this season.

Other midfielders that Man City are linked with this transfer window feature Allan, Ruben Neves, Adrien Rabiot and youngsters like Sandro Tonali and Agustin Almendra.

One of the craziest transfer rumours this year is Isco coming to the Etihad. The skilful Spanish midfielder isn’t getting enough playing time at Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola has reportedly told Manchester City to monitor Isco’s situation at his current club.

Sancho Return?

There are many speculations that the talented 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund player will return to England. The impressive youngster is currently one of the Bundesliga’s best players and already made himslef a name. Sancho became October Player of the Month and earned an England call-up earlier this year.

Now City are one of the many teams that want Jadon Sancho, however, they are a step ahead of other competitors. The club have a buy-back option on the young player, which means they are likely to get first refusal if another club decides to make an offer for him.

Even if the transfer doesn’t happen, Manchester City are eyeing many other wingers for the upcoming winter transfer window. These include impressive Lille OSC player Nicolas Pepe and the 18-year-old Francisco Trincão from SC Braga.
