Lucas Paquetá Agrees to Join AC Milan
Who is Lucas Paquetá?
Arriving at Flamengo when he was 10-years-old, Paquetá was known as a very small but skilled player. Joining the senior team in 2016, Paquetá had grown significantly. Growing eleven inches in just three years, Paquetá was ready to display his talents. Once an undersized teenager, Paquetá slowly developed into one of the league’s most feared players. In 2018, he went on to score nine goals and tallied two assists, quickly making him one of Brazil’s brightest young talents.
Paquetá plays as a No.10, but he also possesses the skill and pace to drift wide and affect the game in different ways. A skilful player, Paquetá is a triple threat on and off the ball. Possessing good speed, Paquetá can also embarrass his opposition with his quick feet and superb dribbling ability. When he stays central, Paquetá plays with great vision, creating chances with ease. His impressive play with Flamengo led to a call-up to the Brazilian National Team. Paquetá has now made two appearances for the Canarinha.
Leonardo Plays a Key Role
In July, former Brazil and AC Milan player Leonardo was appointed as Milan’s new sporting director. The former PSG director rejoined the team after an ownership change in the summer. Leonardo deserves a ton of credit for his work as a recruiter. During his time with PSG, he was instrumental to the team’s success. Signing players such as Thiago Motta and Javier Pastore, Leonardo also lured Carlo Ancelotti to the club.
The former Milan player helped engineer transfers for Kaká and Alexandre Pato. Both players went on to be key players for Milan. During his time in Paris, Leonardo also played a key role in securing the signing of Thiago Silva. The signing of Lucas Paquetá is just the latest in a long line of great signing’s pulled of by the Brazilian.
Playing for AC Milan will be a big step up for Paquetá, but the 21-year-old has the tools and ability to succeed at the highest level.
