MK Dons go into their rearranged fixture against Yeovil Town looking to bounce back after they were defeated in stoppage time by Lincoln City at the weekend. The game was originally meant to take place before the international break but the date was changed due to the number of international call-ups that Yeovil received.
MK Dons Wanting to Bounce Back Against Yeovil
Head to Head
These two have not played against each other in a league game since 2014/15 when MK Dons won promotion from League One and Yeovil were relegated. There was, though, a Checkatrade Trophy knockout game in 2016/17, Robbie Neilson’s first game in charge of the club, that Yeovil came out 4-1 winners in.
The Dons have a slight advantage according to past results, winning six, losing five and drawing four of the 15 games between the two sides. The last Dons victory was the 5-1 win on the final day of the 2014/15 season that saw them pip Preston to the last promotion spot, while Yeovil’s last league win was a 2-1 home victory in 2013.
With history only slightly on the Dons’ side and after a run of two draws and a loss in the league, this one could be difficult for the visitors, especially after the positive start that the Glovers have made to this campaign.
Key Men
Yeovil Town
Alex Fisher leads the scoring charts for Yeovil, netting four times so far this season having played 519 minutes. As well as this, the former Motherwell and Inverness striker has one assist to his name.
Against a defence that may be slightly downhearted by suffering their first loss at the weekend, as well as conceding so late on, Fisher will be looking to thrive and could see this as a golden opportunity to increase his goal tally.
Yoann Arquin and Jordan Green could also be players to look out for – they each have one assist and have three goals and two goals respectively so far.
MK Dons
MK Dons have struggled to find a regular goalscorer in the last few years and while scoring twice so far this season doesn’t mean this will change, fans have been impressed with the performances of Rhys Healey, on loan from Cardiff City.
Healey’s first goal came in the Checkatrade Trophy game against Peterborough and the 23-year-old broke the deadlock against Lincoln on Saturday with an excellent run and finish.
Fans have called for Healey to start the game against Yeovil and if he does, expect him to add to his weekend goal.
Prediction
MK Dons will be wanting to bounce back after a disappointing run of games, but they really don’t look capable of doing so at the moment. Yeovil have made a positive start to the season and could cause the MK Dons defence some real problems.
The defence, on the whole, though, has looked mostly solid in the first lot of games, so Dons fans shouldn’t be too worried about conceding heavily on the road. A draw looks the most likely outcome, even though it will be far from what Paul Tisdale’s side need.
Prediction: Yeovil Town 1-1 MK Dons
