Wolves Sign Adama Traore For Club Record Fee

Adama Traore

Wolves have signed Adama Traore from Middlesbrough for a club record transfer fee after agreeing to meet his buy-out clause of £18 million. Traore joins newly promoted Wolves after helping Middlesbrough to a 5th place finish last season. At only 22-years-old, Traore has notched up 61 appearances for Middlesbrough over a two-year period.

Adama Traore Moves to Wolves

Versatile Winger

Adama Traore has been praised for his style of play being quoted as being a bit of Messi and Ronaldo. Traore is a versatile winger who can play both sides and is either footed. He is known for his pace and crossing game and he’s not afraid to run at defenders. He attempted more dribbles than any other player in England last season with 194.

Traore’s Potential

Many people think Wolves spending £18 million on an uncapped Championship player like Traore is a risk. But he broke into the English game at the age of 19 after arriving from Barcelona and he’s gotten better across the last three years. Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis stated that he wanted to keep Adama for one extra season saying, “one more season with us and a top-six club would come in for him.” It’s easy to see how he will be an asset for Wolves, boasting more man of the match performances than any other player in the championship last season with 14.

Point to Prove

Many fans will be hoping Adama Traore can hit the ground running, despite some criticism of the transfer. At the very least, he adds more depth to Wolves and will only get better under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, a manager that showed last season that he knows how to get the best from his players.

What Now for Wolves

Wolves fans can expect more incomings after Nuno stated he wanted three more signings before Thursday’s deadline. Traore was Nuno’s main target and, now he’s got his man, Wolves could see some outgoings with Fulham interested in Ivan Cavaleiro, who appears to have slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Traore.

There are also reports that long-serving player Danny Batth and youngster Bright Enobakhare would be allowed to leave. Wolves said they are considering offers for the pair.
