André Schürrle has left Borussia Dortmund and signed a season-long loan deal with newly-promoted Fulham. The German forward was allowed to miss a pre-season friendly against Manchester City for talks.

André Schürrle Leaves Borussia Dortmund and Signs For Fulham On Loan

André Schürrle was part of the German World Cup-winning squad in 2014. The 27-year-old joined the Bundesliga team in 2016 and made 33 appearances. Netting only three times during that period, the forward only made 18 appearances last season.

The German also didn’t feature much during the pre-season friendlies. When the forward was given permission to open the talks with Fulham it was clear days with Dortmund were numbered.

Having played Premier League football with Chelsea back from 2013-2015, Schürrle will be no stranger to the high level required by Fulham.

What Does This Mean For André Schürrle?

The move to Fulham means that the German World Cup winner will be playing regular first-team football with a club that was willing to invest in him despite the unfortunate injury that kept him out of the start last season.

Schürrle will be looking to prove himself with the Cottagers and his playing still fits well with his new club. The German enjoys time on the ball and likes to cut inside and shoot from distance; both qualities that Fulham can bring out more in the 27-year-old.

Moving from Dortmund to the West London side at this time is the best thing the German could have done, gaining valuable playing time and being able to show true ability.
