FTN: Latest on Fellaini, Mahrez, Bale and Aleksandr Golovin
Fellaini’s Future Still Undecided?
Marouane Fellaini announced earlier this week that he will make a decision on his future on or before July 1st. The Belgian midfielder is a controversial player among Manchester United fans, with many wanting him to leave this summer. Fellaini rejected several contract extensions, as the club were not willing to meet his demands of £120,000 per week.
Fellaini has been a favourite of manager Jose Mourinho, who has only had positive things to say about the defensive midfielder. Rumours have been coming out that Manchester United have been able to tie Fellaini down to a new three-year contract.
It has been reported that AC Milan are willing to meet the players’ demands and so it will be interesting to see where the Belgian will be playing next season.
Mahrez Mayhem Coming to a Close?
After an eventful winter, Leicester winger and former PFA player of the year, Riyad Mahrez, may finally get his dream move to Manchester City. Algeria failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup and as a result, Mahrez has enjoyed an extended vacation. Reports say that a fee had been agreed for £75million, however, the delay has been caused by the player wanting a cut of the profit.
Mahrez has been one of Leicester’s key men in the past three seasons, and a move away could prove costly for the Foxes. The departure of N’Golo Kante highlighted the cracks in the Leicester side. Nevertheless, this deal seems as good as completed and the Foxes will need to find a replacement.
Gareth Bale Headed Back to England
Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale may be a man on the move. The winger has not been able to settle into the Real Madrid squad in the past few years and a move to Manchester could be on for the Welshman. Real Madrid are reportedly demanding £176 million for Bale, however, are open to a swap deal for goalkeeper David de Gea or winger Anthony Martial.
London Clubs Battle for Aleksander Golovin
After gaining some international recognition from the 2018 World Cup, Aleksandr Golovin has gained interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea. Russia have been very impressive so far in the World Cup and the London clubs could see themselves paying a premium due to his standout performances on the biggest international stage.
