MK Dons have made former Northampton midfielder Lawson D’ath their third signing of the summer. D’ath joins on a one-year contract that will come into effect once his deal with Luton Town expires.
MK Dons Announce Signing of Lawson D’ath
D’ath, 25, has masses of League Two experience, playing for the likes of Cheltenham, Exeter City, Dagenham & Redbridge, Northampton Town and, most recently, Luton Town. With these five clubs, he made a total of 140 appearances.
During his spells with the latter two clubs, he won promotion from Sky Bet League Two, a feat that the Dons will be hoping to emulate in this coming campaign.
His most prolific spell came with Northampton, where he scored ten goals and assisted 11 across two seasons with the Cobblers. Two of these goals came on his debut for the club, netting against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a League Cup first round tie.
He couldn’t carry on this form upon joining Luton in January 2017, though. He failed to find the net in 20 appearances for the Hatters.
D’ath came through the youth academy at Championship side Reading but did not make a senior appearance for them, being loaned out multiple times to sides in League Two.
The Thoughts
Talking to mkdons.com about the move, D’ath said: “I’m delighted to be here.
“I can’t wait to get going and get the season started.
“I’ve played under Paul before and I know what he’s about and how he wants to play football. It’s how I want to play. I’m just looking forward to working with him again.”
Dons manager Paul Tisdale made the point that D’ath’s versatility would be key to the side’s success this season: “Lawson is a forward-thinking midfielder who can play in a number of different positions. He’s also had experience in this division in the last three years.
“This season, we need to be competitive, robust and fluid team and Lawson provides us with those qualities. He is a very useful addition to the squad.”
