The Latest on Wilshere, Skrinar, Brewster and Grealish
No Guarantees for Wilshere
Jack Wilshere’s career is the definition of a depressing tale. A boy bursting with talent, the supposed hope of a nation, now a man not even considered worth a place in a 23-man squad. His career has been ravaged by constant injury problems and it has taken so much away from him.
Now, his dream of becoming an Arsenal hero seems destined to come to an end as well. According to reports, the 26-year-old had agreed to sign a new deal to stay at the Emirates. However, a meeting with new boss Unai Emery has made him reconsider his options ahead of the new season.
Wilshere feels he is good enough to be starting week in week out, but Emery could not guarantee that he would. He still has a number of years ahead of him, and doesn’t want to spend them as a bit-part player.
As a result, with Wolves, West Ham and Everton all waiting to swoop, he may seek to leave the club he has been at since the age of 9.
Chelsea Eye Grealish Move
Jack Grealish seems destined for a move to London this summer. Tottenham have been linked to the 22-year-old for quite a while now, but are set to face stern competition from Chelsea.
Numerous reports have suggested that the Blues are ready to splash £30 million on him, and are even prepared to loan him back to Villa for next season. What isn’t on their side though, is time.
Chelsea are undergoing an internal crisis, with Antonio Conte’s future at the club still not sorted out. That could have a massive effect on their summer dealings, and it may see them miss out on Grealish in particular.
Aston Villa are struggling for funds, and selling Grealish could be their best source of income. With Spurs determined to secure his signature, Chelsea might have to come up with a solid reason to make Villa wait.
Thick ‘Skrinned’ Inter Turn Down United Bid
Inter Milan have rejected a £60 million bid from Manchester United for Milan Skriniar, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho has been desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer. It has seen him sign Diogo Dalot so far, while links to Alex Sandro remain fresh. While full-back remains the priority, he is still eager to find a solid partner for Eric Bailly.
Skriniar has been superb for Inter since his move from Sampdoria in 2016. At just 23, he is already attracting interest from some of the best clubs in Europe. Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona have all been linked, but Inter don’t seem interested in selling at the moment.
Brewster To Stay With Liverpool
Liverpool wonder-kid Rhian Brewster has committed his future to the club, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The forward is seen as one of the most exciting prospects in football at the moment. Liverpool have been desperate to keep him, but the 18-year-old looked set to leave after failing to agree to terms over his first professional contract.
However, the two parties finally seem to have found common ground. A long-term contract has been agreed, and a first taste of first-team football could be on the cards next season.
