West Ham United have confirmed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager after the departure of David Moyes. The Chilean has signed a three-year contract with the Hammers.

Pellegrini is a former Champions League semi-finalist and Premier League winner at Manchester City. He has also had spells at Villarreal, Real Madrid, Malaga and, most recently, Hebei China Fortune.
Pellegrini is the first non-European manager to win the Premier League having guided City to the title in 2013/14. That season, City also won the league cup and set a new record of 151 goals scored in all competitions.
His win percentage in his time at City is also very impressive – the fifth highest during his three years in charge. In his first season, the title-winning 2013/14 campaign, they had a win percentage of 71.1%, obtaining an average of 2.26 points per game. This decreased in the forthcoming seasons, with a 63.2% win percentage in 2014/15 and 2.08 points per game, and a 50.0% win percentage in 2015/16 with an average of 1.74 points per game.
It is understood that Pellegrini has taken a huge pay cut to be with West Ham but that he will still be the club’s highest paid manager in history.

“Manuel brings a reputation for attacking football and getting the best out of his players. We believe he will attract new talent to the London Stadium as well as improving the current squad.
“We have listened to fans who asked us to be ambitious. We hope they agree it is an exciting appointment.
