FTN: The latest on Danny Drinkwater, Eden Hazard and Anthony Martial news
Tottenham bid for Anthony Martial
Reports coming out of France today have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur have bid for Manchester United‘s 21 year-old attacker Anthony Martial. The Frenchman has reportedly uncomfortable since being ushered out of the number nine shirt last season – with transfer rumours resurfacing this summer, and Mauricio Pochettino is looking to capitalise on Martial’s unrest at Old Traffford.
RMC Sport was the first to report that an offer had been received and rejected by Manchester United. With Spurs’ first offer reportedly in the region of £25,000,000. There is no doubt that Tottenham will have to part with a lot more money than that if they look to secure one of the Premier League’s hottest prospects.
Barcelona to return for Ousmane Dembele
Ousmane Dembele is still Barcelona’s top transfer target and the Catalan giants will return with another bid next week, according to AS. Having had a €110,000,000 bid rejected already, their next offer will table at around €140,000,000 (£127,000,000). Barcelona are still in the market for somebody to replace Neymar – with Liverpool remaining firm on their stance of any potential move for Philippe Coutinho, and the tricky winger could prove to be as big a star as the Brazil captain.
As Dortmund have a wealth of wide-men at the club already, it would be entirely unsurprising to see Dembele join his compatriot and France international teammate Samuel Umtiti at the Nou Camp.
Danny Drinkwater remains on Chelsea’s wanted list
Having failed with a £15,000,000 bid earlier on in the summer, Danny Drinkwater has been left in limbo in regards to his future ever since. Seemingly unable to fully commit to the former champions Leicester, the England international is reportedly interest in a move to the current champions. However, no second offer has been made for the midfielder.
Despite reinforcements over the summer, an opening day home defeat to Burnley on the opening weekend of the season has shown that Chelsea still have some work to do in the transfer market if they want to retain their Premier League crown. Drinkwater would add some much needed depth in the middle of the park following the departure of Nemanja Matic and provide a healthy dynamic with former teammate N’golo Kante.
Davinson Sanchez looks set for Spurs switch
Ajax look set to lose another centre-back as Davinson Sanchez is poised to make a move to the Premier League, with Spurs set to test the Dutch club’s resolve with a £35,000,000 bid. Tottenham have been incredibly quiet this transfer window, but the arrival of Sanchez could mark the beginning of a late splurge from the North London cub.
Sanchez is a young central defender who has shown himself perfectly capable of playing the ball out from the back, as his stellar displays helped guide an incredibly youthful Ajax side to the Europa League final. Sanchez would prove to be another smart investment by Daniel Levy, as they look to improve the third centre-back in they’re 3-4-3 formation.
