Norwich City have completed the signing of young Leyton Orient striker Tristan Abrahams for an undisclosed fee. The striker has signed a two year deal with an option for a further year. He joins City following a turbulent breakthrough season in east London. Abrahams contributed two goals in nine appearances despite the relegation of Orient to the National League.
The fee is rumoured to cost The Canaries £250,000 if all add-ons are triggered. As part of the deal, Abrahams will return to Brisbane Road on loan for the entirety of the 2017/18 season. Terms of the deal state that he will be eligible to train and play for Norwich’s Under 23s.
The 18-year-old was born in Lewisham and his rise through the ranks at Leyton Orient was completed with his first senior appearance in March 2017. His first senior goal subsequently followed against Luton Town a month later.
He was initially on loan at Cambridge City last season, where he made four appearances without scoring. He returned to Orient and formed a prominent part of the development squad, before breaking into the first team.
Abrahams described his move by saying: “It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m so happy to have signed. I was told a few clubs were interested but when I heard Norwich were also interested I knew that was the one to come to straight away”.
This signing highlights Stuart Webber’s desire to implement his strategy onto the Norfolk club. Abrahams is a powerful and upcoming forward who could prove to be integral to Norwich’s future.
