Juventus in for Blaise Matuidi

After accepting defeat in their attempts to sign Nemanja Matic and Emre Can, Juventus have renewed their interest in PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi. The French international was close to joining The Old Lady last season, but remained at the Parc de Princes after the club’s president opted to hold on to the 30-year-old. PSG is said to value the midfielder at €40million. Having one year left on his contract, the Parisians could be looking to cash in on Matuidi, and with a world record bid for Neymar forthcoming, they could use the funds. Should Matuidi leave the French capital, it’s unlikely PSG would be willing to surrender the services of Marco Verratti.

Manchester United target Madrid star Gareth Bale

ESPN are reporting that Manchester United still have hope in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid. This comes after news broke that Madrid were ready to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco. The 18-year-old’s signing would mean that one attacking player would have to be shipped out in order to accommodate Mbappe and provide him enough game time, and that looks to be Bale after an inconsistent year in the Spanish capital. Ed Woodward wanted to sign the Welshman when he took over in 2013 and that pursuit could be completed this summer as it coincides with United’s hunt for a new attacking player.

Markovic moving to Italy

Lazar Markovic was left out of the 30-man squad for Liverpool’s trip to Germany in order to participate in the 2017 Audi Cup. He is currently in Italy where he is trying to arrange a transfer to Fiorentina. The Italian club have reportedly been interested in securing his services for a while now, and it is now quite certain he has no future at Anfield. Liverpool’s asking price is £16 million, and should the Italians meet the valuation the deal is likely to be completed quickly.

Ross Barkley looking for ‘new challenge’

The England international is about to enter the last year of his contract, and has refused to negotiate with the Toffees over extending his stay at Goodison Park. In a press conference, manager Ronald Koeman said “His personal situation is not so difficult. We made a really good offer to sign a new contract, he declined that contract and told me he’s looking for a new challenge. “It’s his decision. I need to respect that and we’ll see what happens, because I heard from the board that there’s not really an offer on the table for Ross.”

It will be interesting to see whether or not any bids come in for the attacking midfielder before the end of the transfer window, but it is hard to believe Barkley will find consistent playing time at a team further up the table.

Barcelona reportedly agree terms with Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho is reported to have reached an agreement on personal terms with Barcelona. The Catalan giants are looking to replace the ageing Andreas Iniesta, and the 25 year old Brazilian looks to be the favourite. While Liverpool have already rejected a massive €80million bid from Barcelona, their resolve will likely be tested in the coming weeks. Coutinho is certainly integral to Jurgen Klopp’s plans, however the opportunity to play at the Camp Nou alongside lifelong friend Neymar could prove too much to pass up on. Should Barcelona sign Coutinho, it would has lay the Neymar to PSG rumours to rest. as Coutinho is thought to be a key piece in that deal as well.
