Mali international Ousseynou Cisse has joined MK Dons on a free transfer.
Ousseynou Cissè Joins League One MK Dons
This signing comes after Darren Potter was released at the end of the previous campaign, as well with the loss of Samir Carruthers to Sheffield United in the last transfer window. He joins Peter Pawlett and Conor McGrandles, signed from Aberdeen and Norwich respectively, in joining Robbie Neilson’s League One side for the new season.
The powerful midfielder can play both in a holding and box-to-box in midfield, as well as in the back four. His previous clubs include Waasland-Beveren, Rayo Vallecano, Dijon and SC Amiens. He spent last season with French second division side Tours FC.
MK Dons manager Robbie Neilson said of the signing: “It will take him a little bit of time to get used to the hectic nature of British football because it’s 100 miles per hour but he’s got great physicality and a great left-foot. He’s also got great pedigree having played at good levels before in France, Spain and Belgium.”
Cissè himself had this to say ahead of his move; “I’m very happy and I can’t wait to start playing. I had a long conversation with the manager and he really wanted me to come here, which pleased me.”
Internationally, Ousseynou Cisse has represented Mali on one occasion. He was brought in for an international friendly against Libya, which finished 2-2. As well as this, Cisse was called up for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan. He made no appearance in this match, however.
More signings are expected for the Dons. It is rumoured that Dutch goalkeeper Wieger Sietsma is training with the club and could sign on a permanent basis at some point in this window.
Cisse’s deal is subject to international clearance.
