Harry Kane Signs New Contract Deal

London Derbies

The deal includes a pay rise to around £100,000 a week for the Spurs hitman. This is money well spent in locking down a key first team player. His recent injury has stunted his recent progress but has already scored against Arsenal and West Ham on his return. Goals in any match are important, but his derby goal scoring streak is starting to become a key attribute to his game. The ability to keep cool to score important penalties in such heated matches is a real asset. In addition, in open play, he always seems to cause London defences problems, instead of shying away. Therefore, this contract deal is really important for Spurs, as it ensures his team can compete in key derby matches.

Striker Crisis

Another reason why Kane’s new contract deal is vital is because of the lack of strikers at the club. With only Vincent Janssen to rotate with, Spurs should invest in at least one more striker. Fortunately for the club, Kane is a reliable goalscorer and now that he has returned from injury, he can begin to change his record Premier League goal tally to help push Tottenham up the table.

England

With Gareth Southgate recently announced as England full-time manager, he will have to begin to shape his squad. Undoubtedly, Kane will play a key part. Signing a new contract at Spurs ensures guaranteed first team football, with the club unlikely to bench him or bring in new firepower. Staying at his current club means that he can perform week in and week out, trying to impress his England boss. This is perhaps why he is better positioned to take the first team role for his country. Players such as Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford are important but are often rotated at their clubs, whilst the likes of Daniel Sturridge is constantly struck down by injury.  Kane is almost ever-present for Spurs and has been scoring goals, showing his potential as an international goalscorer.
