After suffering a home defeat in midweek at the hands of Bury, MK Dons are looking to bounce back with a win away at Oldham Athletic this weekend. The 3-1 defeat last Tuesday angered a lot of fans, more and more of whom are beginning to criticise Karl Robinson for his lack of a ‘Plan B’.
The Dons had moved up to 12th place in League One last weekend. This came courtesy of a 4-1 away win at Fleetwood Town. However, Tuesday’s defeat has seen them drop down two places to 14th, with a total of 12 points.
MK Dons Looking to Bounce Back Against Oldham
MK Dons can take confidence from their recent away form going into this game. They have lost just once away from home this season; at local rivals Northampton. Additionally, this weekend’s opponents have had an even worse start to their campaign. Steve Robinson’s side are winless in seven games. Their last three point haul came at Bury over a month ago in a 1-0 win. They currently lie second bottom in the table, three points ahead of bottom side Coventry.
It’s fair to say that Oldham’s forwards have not been on form recently, either. Their current joint top scorers are defenders Peter Clarke and Josh Law, both with two. It was Clarke who scored a late equaliser at Charlton in the week. With this being the case, the Dons will have to be careful when defending set-pieces, as this appears to be where the majority of Oldham’s goals come from.
On paper, this should be an easy win for Karl Robinson’s side. However, they have been extremely inconsistent this season. If away form is anything to go by, then the three points should be coming back to Milton Keynes. But if another performance like from midweek is put on show, then Robinson’s job really will be in danger.
