Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino Discusses Monaco Clash

London, UK

On Wednesday evening, Tottenham Hotspur welcomes AS Monaco to London. For the first time since Arsenal in the late-90s, Spurs will play out England’s home at Wembley Stadium. White Hart Lane is currently under construction as the club is working towards a new stadium.

Manager Mauricio Pocettino had much to say ahead of the match about the atmosphere and the unique opportunity of a match at Wembley on Europe’s biggest club stage:

“It will be a historic moment for us. We need to go to Wembley to play, act naturally and try to win games – and not try to find excuses. We need to play and try to beat Monaco. That is the most important thing. It will be an exciting moment to play with Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League. It will be fantastic – it’s difficult to describe the feeling. I think it will be exciting for everyone. You have more space to play [on a bigger pitch]. It’s difficult for the opponent to press you when you have more space.”
