NCAA Tournament action resumes tonight and we’re discussing three Sweet Sixteen player props. The first contest features Michigan State vs. Kansas State and concludes with Gonzaga and UCLA squaring off in a rematch of the 2021 Final Four.
Sweet 16 March Madness Player Props
Drew Timme Over 19.5 Points
Forgive us for the cliche, but this is crunch time for Timme and the Zags. At the very least, bettors can proceed under the assumption Timme will be ready to work. He’s coming off a 28-point effort on 21 shots in a three-point win over TCU. UCLA presents another tough, defensively rugged opponent.
For what it’s worth, Timme poured in 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting in the Zags’ 2021 Final Four win over the Bruins. For the “what have you done for me lately” crowd, Timme has gone Over 20 in his first two tourney contests. With a trip to the Elite Eight in the balance, the Zags will continue to flow through their best player.
Nick Smith Jr. Under 12.5 Points
It’s been a tough introduction into the NCAA Tournament for Smith, a projected lottery pick in this summer’s NBA Draft. He scored six points total across the Razorbacks’ first two games.
It certainly didn’t hurt Arkansas’ ability to knock off Illinois and Kansas, as they received significant contributions from upperclassmen Ricky Council IV and Davonte Davis. Perhaps a few days to regroup helps Smith get his feet under him, but the Razorbacks have the luxury of not being required to place their hopes on the freshman’s shoulders.
Tyson Walker Over 15.5 Points
Walker can certainly deliver a good game in a win or loss, but a Spartans victory – the result we’re leaning toward – likely rests on the shoulders of the senior Walker.
We’re banking on volume in this spot. Walker attempted 15 or more shots in four of his last seven. He also finished with 16 or more points in four of seven. Another outing with 15-plus shots and reasonable efficiency – Walker is shooting 46.2/40.7/79.7 on the season – should equate to an Over.
