Joel Embiid Under 50.5 Points, Rebounds, & Assists
The Hornets are woefully undermanned, especially in regard to players equipped to slow someone of Embiid’s caliber. Embiid should be able to have a field day and improve his NBA MVP standing.
With all of that said, we’re siding with the Under here because of the blowout potential. The Sixers are 10.5-point home favorites against a Hornets team that has lost three in a row and six of its last eight. On paper, this has the look of a game in which the Sixers will get to rest some starters down the stretch.
Evan Mobley Over 10.5 Rebounds
This is all about the absence of Cavs center Jarrett Allen. In 10 games without Allen, Mobley reached 11 rebounds five times and he’s averaging 10.6 boards. He will serve as the team’s top rebounder on Friday night.
Mobley’s season-long rebounding average (8.9) could be considered relatively modest, but he’s demonstrated an ability to clean the glass thoroughly. He has 18 games under his belt with 10-plus boards.
Anthony Edwards Over 27.5 Points
Edwards is enjoying yet another prolific scoring run, averaging 30.2 points over his last five on 23 shots per game. His efficiency – 48.7% from the field, 37.8% from three – has been impressive as well.
We recognize that the Bulls rank well defensively, but we’re undeterred in this spot. There’s no reason to suspect Edwards’ volume to decrease tonight. And in spite of Chicago’s quality defensive metrics, we’re confident enough in Edwards’ recent efficiency to lean Over.
Kyle Anderson Over 5.5 Assists
Edwards isn’t the only one enjoying a productive stretch of play. Anderson is doing a wonderful job stuffing the stat sheet, including in the assists department. He’s averaging 8.4 dimes over his last five, the same stretch as Edwards’ hot streak.
Neither team is in a particular groove, but Anderson and Edwards certainly are. We’re comfortable siding with the Over on Anderson’s assists, especially since he will find Edwards with a lot of his passes.
