Friday Anthony Edwards & Ja Morant NBA Player Props

Anthony Edwards Over 2.5 Steals + Blocks

The hip discomfort that was ailing Edwards appears to have subsided. He’s averaging 38.4 minutes over his last three games, a span that includes averages of 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. That’s certainly a tiny sample size, but Edwards is productive in those areas overall.

The Timberwolves and Grizzlies both rank top five in pace, so there should be plenty of possessions for both teams, allowing Edwards to accumulate some defensive stats. Edwards has demonstrated an ability to rack up steals and blocks in bunches. He’s recorded 24 games with at least two steals and 20 games with at least one block.

Ja Morant Over 28.5 Points

Memphis closes its five-game road trip tonight and will try to put a halt to its four-game slide before returning home. It stands to reason the team will be eager to end the trip on a positive note.

Enter Morant, who as the Grizzlies’ best player, will be tasked with playing the role of stopper. Morant’s shot volume is high – both overall and of late. He’s averaging 22 shots over his last three and hit the Over on Wednesday in a matchup that had a similar degree of pace as tonight’s will – on paper, at least.

Anthony Edwards Over 3.5 Turnovers

Usage, usage, usage. That’s the core of the story here. Edwards leads the Timberwolves with a 29.1% usage rate, so he’s going to have the ball in his hands a ton against Memphis’ top-rated defense (according to defensive efficiency).

Edwards is more playmaker than floor general, which is more gift than curse, but the curse reveals itself through high turnover numbers. He averages 3.3 giveaways overall and has coughed it up at least four times in four straight games.

Ja Morant Under 15.5 Rebounds + Assists

We like the Under for rebounds and assists individually as well as collectively. Poke around for the wager and odds you’re most comfortable placing.

Memphis is shooting poorly over its current four-game slide and plays worse on the road – as most teams do. Morant finished Under 8.5 assists in nine of his last 11, and we’re anticipating a bit of a struggle to get there tonight. As far as cleaning the glass, Morant hasn’t recorded six boards since New Year’s Day.

Ja Morant + Anthony Edwards Over 57.5 Points

Our Over play comes down to one key factor: volume.

On top of Morant trying to stop the Grizzlies’ losing streak and Edwards carrying the Wolves into improved playoff position, each will (likely) want to shine in a Friday night national TV spot. The Wolves’ last four weekend (Friday/Saturday) games averaged 16,967, so the crowd should provide a bit of juice as well.

The Grizzlies are laying 3 on the road, and totals are a tick below 240 at multiple sportsbooks, suggesting a competitive, high-scoring affair. We like Morant to hit his individual Over and we’re fans of Edwards’ prolific scoring ability, especially the 33.8 points he’s averaging across his last four.
