March Madness Player Props | Thursday, Round 1
Gradey Dick Over 14.5 Points
The Jayhawks are laying more than 20 points as favorites over Howard, suggesting an easy victory. Blowout spots require extra consideration when eyeing Overs, but we’re backing Dick here.
Dick is Kansas’ second-leading scorer at 14.1 points per game, but he’s emerging as a more featured scorer. He’s attempted at least 10 shots in seven of his last nine, and there’s often value in looking at a team’s secondary scorers when there’s such heavy blowout potential.
Brandon Miller Under 20.5 Points
Miller is one of the NBA’s top draft prospects, and that talent is almost certain to shine in March. The Crimson Tide are heavy favorites against No. 16 seed Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.
It’s reasonable to expect Miller to enjoy a productive game, but it’s also worth considering what happens if Alabama sprints out of the gate en route to a blowout. Should they cruise early, they won’t need to place too much weight on Miller’s shoulders.
Nick Smith Jr. Over 15.5 Points
Smith flies under the radar a little bit with Ricky Council leading the team in scoring and Anthony Black pacing the way in assists. Smith, however, is the team’s top pro prospect, and he’s flashing that talent.
He attempted 20-plus shots in three of his last five and recorded at least 16 points in each. The Razorbacks are 2-point favorites in a game with a respectable total. Look for Smith to deliver in the scoring column, especially if he’s destined for another game of heavy usage.
Kyle Filipowski Over 27.5 Combined Points, Assists, Rebounds
Filipowski, like Duke as a whole, has been hot. He’s reached 28 combined points, assists, and rebounds five times over the Blue Devils’ nine game streak, including three of his last four.
Duke is only a 6.5-point favorite against Oral Roberts, who is led by explosive scorer Max Abmas, suggesting they won’t run away with the game. If it’s competitive, Filipowski will need to be heavily involved throughout the majority of the game.
