Sun Upset Lynx in Game 1

In Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals, the Connecticut Sun upset the favored Minnesota Lynx, winning 73-70 and covering the Sun’s +3.5 odds, while the total score fell short of the projected 151 points. The Sun’s defense was the key to victory, holding the Lynx to just 41.5% shooting and 25% from three-point range.

Marina Mabrey led the Sun with 20 points, while Alyssa Thomas nearly posted a near triple-double with 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. DeWanna Bonner added a double-double, though her shooting efficiency was low. Napheesa Collier, after an outstanding first round, was held to 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting, and the Lynx struggled offensively, aside from Bridget Carleton’s efficient 6-of-10 shooting.

Lynx Even Things in Game 2

Game 2 of the WNBA semifinals between the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun was an exciting and physical contest. The Lynx evened the series with a 77-70 victory. The Lynx covered the -5 spread, and the game went under the projected score of 151. The game was defined by intense defense, trash talk, and hard fouls, but mainly, quality WNBA playoff basketball. The key to the game was the Lynx holding the Sun to 36.4% shooting and just 25% from beyond the arc.

Once again, Lynx star Napheesa Collier struggled offensively, scoring just nine points. She did contribute in other areas, with 12 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks. The rest of the Lynx stepped up, with Courtney Williams leading the team with 17 points and Alanna Smith adding 15. Minnesota’s bench also played a crucial role, outscoring Connecticut’s 16-4.

As the series moves back to Connecticut, the Sun still hold the season advantage. Minnesota’s defense in Game 2 and the threat of a big game from Collier leave the series wide open. Both teams will need to maintain and bring their best basketball to Connecticut in an attempt to take control of the series.

Lynx vs Sun Spread

The spread for Game 3 is Lynx +1.5. The Lynx are +108 to win on the road, while the Sun are -132 to win straight up. The point total is set at 151. While each game between these teams during the regular season went over the projected point total, the last two playoff games have gone under. Overall both teams have been trending towards the under lately.

The Sun covered in Game 1, and the Lynx covered in Game 2. The Lynx have been hot lately, going 16-3 straight up and 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games. The Sun are only 8-13-1 against the spread at home this season, making the Lynx spread an interesting bet.
