2025 4-star shooting guard Kayden Edwards is ready to make his college decision. While college basketball recruiting can be fickle, what is known about Edwards’s thinking is that he will pick a Big 12 program.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Edwards will make his choice today live on On3 Recruits YouTube Channel at 5:45 p.m. (ET). So, will he don a Colorado Buffaloes or TCU Horned Frogs at the end of the day?

Edwards is one of the best pure scorers in the 2025 class. He can score at all three levels, though he is at his best from beyond the arc and has demonstrated the ability to initiate the offense. He averaged 23.9 points while shooting 37.6 percent from three for Duncanville (TX) High as a junior last season.
All the major recruiting services rate Edwards among the top 100 in the class. He is the consensus No. 64 prospect with a 93.57 rating. 247Sports has the 6-3 guard rated highest at No.61, while Rivals has him rated lowest at No. 93.

Edwards is a southpaw shotmaker who can put points on the board in spurts. He is an elite competitor who plays the game to win. He is an undersized two-guard who is a true threat in all three ranges once he gets going. He excels on and off the ball and is reliable in producing big numbers in the scoring category. His ability to shoot the basketball is what makes Edwards a consistently productive performer. His range is deep and his release is quick as he is a consistent weapon from behind the arc. He can shoot it off screens, off the catch, off the bounce, and is one who surprises most when he misses a long-range attempt. Additionally, he shows great touch with his in-between game finishing with floaters and crafty lay-ins through traffic. Edwards has a body of work that dates back to his middle school days. Since then, he has earned and lived up to a reputation as one of the more lethal shooters and scorers in the Lone Star State. With his ability to specialize as a shot maker, Edwards could assert himself as a primary scoring option at a high major program down the road.
Edwards’s Recruitment
Edwards holds over 15 scholarship offers. Before disclosing that he would choose between Colorado and TCU, Edwards had revealed a top-5 list. LSU, Oklahoma State, and USC were the other three schools on his list.
He took official visits to Colorado, Oklahoma State and TCU. However, he canceled his upcoming visits to LSU (September 21) and USC (September 27). So, what is he looking for in a school?
“I want to get to the league as fast as possible,” Edwards told Jaime Shaw of On3 in June. “So I’m looking at the school that will put me in the best position to do that. I want to play for a program that will have eyes on the team, win games, and give me the opportunity to play as a freshman.”
“I’m comfortable in a system that gets out and runs. I like to score the basketball, so I’m going to be looking for a coach who is not only hard on me but has trust in his guards, a coach who will give his guards freedom to make a play.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU is Edwards’s hometown school and has been recruiting him the longest as he received his scholarship from Jaime Dixon nearly four years ago. He has been on the Fort Worth campus at least twice, including on September 12, for an official visit. The Horned Frogs are considered the overwhelming favorites to obtain a commitment.
“Living right around the corner, they come to check on me a good bit, Edwards told Shaw while discussing TCU. “With TCU, it’s about more than just basketball. They’re not just going to use you to get ahead for themselves, they want to see you do better in life.
“They play in transition, and they told me they led college basketball in transition threes. That’s a lot of what I do, I score and shoot the ball very well. So that play style is really interesting to me.”
Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado offered Edwards in June 2023. He was on campus for an official visit on August 29, 2024.
“Tad Boyle knows what he is doing,” Edwards told Jenkins in August. “They just a produced a few professionals this year. He will not only get me ready for the next level but will make me a better individual as well.”
