Bucks Work Out Unsigned Four-Year NBA Veteran

Terence Davis has recently had a workout for the Milwaukee Bucks. That is what league sources have told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, who tweeted out the news. The six-foot-four shooting guard last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season with the Sacramento Kings.

Bucks Work Out Unsigned Four-Year NBA Veteran

Has Proven He Can Score In The League

The 27-year-old Davis has played four seasons in the NBA. He signed with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent in July of 2019 out of Ole Miss. Davis played for the school for four seasons and was mostly utilized as a starter for the last three. He was named to the All-SEC Second Team as a senior in 2018-19.

Despite going undrafted, Davis was a member of Toronto’s rotation for much of his rookie season in 2019-20. The Mississippi native finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team. Davis posted averages that season of 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

Receiving a little less playing time in his second season, Davis was traded to the Kings for a second round pick in March of 2021. In his 27 games with Sacramento in 2020-21, he averaged 11.1 points.

2021-22 was shaping up to be Davis’ most productive season. Unfortunately it ended prematurely in February, as he needed to undergo season-ending wrist surgery. In 30 games (11 starts), Davis would average 10.4 points in 17.9 minutes per contest. On January 19, 2022, Davis would score a career-high 35 points against the Detroit Pistons.

The 2022-23 season saw the Kings finally put an end to their 16 straight seasons from 2006-07 to 2021-22 without reaching the playoffs. With a better roster, Davis received less playing time. He finished with his current career-low averages of 13.1 minutes and 6.7 points.

In his four NBA seasons, Davis has appeared in 227 regular season games (24 starts) for the Raptors and Kings. His career averages are 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Davis has shot 43.4% from the field, 36.6% from three-point territory, and 82.6% from the foul line.

Unfortunate Injury Last Season

Unable to garner an NBA contract last season, Davis joined the Rip City Remix of the G League. He reportedly had an overseas offer in the EuroLeague that would have paid more, but Davis still had dreams of getting back in the NBA. Unfortunately, he played just three games for the Remix. A ruptuted Achilles sidelined Davis for the rest of the season.

The numbers game in Milwaukee will make it difficult for Davis to earn a spot on the Bucks roster. They already have 14 guaranteed contracts for 2024-25, leaving just one opening. That also have a partially guaranteed contract with guard Andre Jackson Jr. According to Spotrac, $945,929 of his $1,891,857 salary in 2024-25 is guaranteed. The deal becomes fully guaranteed if Jackson Jr. is still on the roster through January 10, 2025.

Still, even if the odds are against Davis being on the Bucks opening night roster, perhaps he can receive an Exhibit 10 deal if he showed enough during the workout. That would at least allow Davis to showcase his talent in preseason games which could lead to interest from another team.
