According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, guard Reggie Jackson will sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. Earlier in the offseason, Jackson accepted his player option to remain with the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, however, eventually traded Jackson to the Charlotte Hornets. Roderick Boone‘s report of Charlotte waiving Jackson broke shortly before Wojnarowski’s report.

Jackson spent parts of the last two seasons with the Nuggets, winning a championship with them in 2023. During his time with the Nuggets, the Boston College alum averaged 9.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. The 13-year veteran also spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, and Los Angeles Clippers.

What Reggie Jackson Provides to the 76ers
Jackson is a seasoned veteran with championship experience. Outside of Jackson, Kyle Lowry, who won a championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, is the only member currently with the 76ers who has a title. Furthermore, recently-signed Caleb Martin, formerly of the Miami Heat, is the only additional player with NBA Finals experience.
On the court, Jackson is a very solid backup who can provide spot starts when needed. Last season, Nuggets star point guard Jamal Murray missed a lot of time due to injuries. In his place, Jackson provided solid minutes in the lineup. Jackson spoke about assuming a larger role, saying he was “just happy to step up and do my part.”

Additionally, Jackson is a reliable guard who can play both guard positions. He plays an offense-heavy type of game, but he is not a horrible defender. With the team having recently re-signed Lowry and drafted point guard Jared McCain in the 2024 NBA Draft, it would not be a surprise if Jackson sees a lot of time playing shooting guard.
The Last Word on Reggie Jackson and the Philadelphia 76ers
Signing Jackson is just one more move the 76ers made in what has been a busy offseason. This summer, the 76ers signed star Paul George and veterans Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond, and Martin. Additionally, they re-signed Lowry and Kelly Oubre and gave Tyrese Maxey a five-year contract. The 76ers look like a much different team than the one that lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. How much better they will be is going to be worth monitoring next season. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see how this new-look 76ers team can compete with some of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.
