Kerr Kriisa Stays in Morgantown

After a series of chaotic situations in West Virginia, Kerr Kriisa decides to stay a Mountaineer for this upcoming season. A feisty, competitive player, Kriisa is a winner and will help the Mountaineers this season.

Kriisa explained how he is excited to be a Mountaineer. He said, “I am putting my faith back in a coach that put his faith in me. This staff and team are about to do something very special, and I’m so glad to be a part of it.” A flashy point guard, who had a lot of success the last two seasons with Arizona, will be an excellent stabilizer for a manic situation.

So, what does Kriisa bring to Morgantown?

Shooting

While streaky and having an interesting shot selection, Kriissa is an excellent three-point shooter. West Virginia was third in the conference in three-point shooting at 34.8%. However, they lost Erik Stevenson, an excellent three-point shooter, and their leading scorer. They need a replacement, and Kriisa can be that guy. Kriisa shot 36.6% from three last season with Arizona on 6.5 attempts a game.

He can shoot off the dribble, pin downs, and traditional spot-up situations, which allows him mobility in an offense. Kriisa is a solid addition to help the shooting issue with West Virginia.

Passing

Kriisa led the Pac-12 in assists last season. Averaging 5.1 assists a game, Kriisa is an excellent passer in the pick-and-roll, in transition, and when he gets into the paint. West Virginia only had a 1.02 assist-to-turnover ratio, and Kriissa had a 1.96 assist-to-turnover ratio which should help get the offense going.

He pushes the pace and makes intelligent decisions, making for a successful campaign this season.

Winning

More importantly, Kriisa is a winner. He was 61-11 in his last two seasons at Arizona and was a starter in both seasons. West Virginia was 19-15 last season, but they lost a bunch of key pieces. Even though Arizona did not go as far as expected in the NCAA Tournament, Kriissa won the Pac-12 Title this past season and won important games in his career. West Virginia gets a player who knows how to lead, win and get players to be successful.

Last Word for Kerr

Kerr Kriisa staying is good for West Virginia. They get a good point guard and can find the necessary pieces to be successful this upcoming season.
