Hyunjung Lee is a junior from Yongin City, South Korea who has spent his entire three-year career at Davidson College. Lee’s best known for his ability to light it up from three, and hopes to be the first Davidson player since Steph Curry to be drafted.

College Career
Lee began his collegiate career at Davidson as a bench player, earning 20+ minutes a game while not starting. The South Korean native performed decently in his first season but took on a larger role in his second season. Now in his third season, Lee flourished in an even bigger offensive role. He averaged 12.7 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game for his career, scoring 15.8 points per game and grabbing 6 rebounds a game this season.
In terms of accolades, Lee won a gold medal in the 2015 FIBA Asia Under 16 Championship. Lee was named to the senior national team in the FIBA Asia Cup for South Korea this year as well. Lee also lead Davidson to victory this season with 17 points and 4 assists over top-10 Alabama, the first time Davidson beat a top-10 team nationally since Steph Curry played in 2008.
At Davidson throughout three seasons, Lee established himself as one of the best shooters in college basketball. For his career, he is a 39.7 percent three-point shooter on high volume. He scored a team-leading 80 total three-pointers this season while shooting 38.1 percent on 6.2 attempts per game.
Lee’s ability to shoot the basketball will be his best friend in the NBA moving forward. He’s able to get to his spots on the floor at will and is an adept off-ball mover who tires defenses out with his high energy. The South Korean is also 6’7, suggesting he’ll be able to get his shot up easily over NBA-level defense. His mid-range is no slouch either, as he converted 60 percent of his two-point attempts over his career. Overall, he shot an efficient 48 percent from the field for his career.
He’s exceptional at moving off of screens, and has a high basketball and shot IQ. Lee also gets rid of the ball quickly and can finish at the rim at a capable level. Lee is a three-level scorer and a complete player on offense.
Weaknesses
Lee’s worst part of his offensive package is his ball-handling. The Davidson product excels at getting rid of the ball quickly, but can’t create for himself. He will have to develop that if he wants to fully succeed at an NBA level.
Lee also gets targeted on the defensive side of the ball but showed improvement this season in that area. He’s a poor defender as of now but can become above average with his size and speed. Lee is also not the most athletic player and is not that strong. To avoid getting taken advantage of in the post, that will also have to be fixed.
Because of Lee’s shortcomings in shot-creation, his teammates will also determine how well he does more than other prospects. If playmakers or even the open man can’t find him on offense, it could be tough for him to use his shot. Lee is dealing with a foot injury too, which hurts his draft stock.
Player Comparison
Duncan Robinson. Duncan Robinson is a 6-7 guard-forward for the Miami Heat who shoots at a high level. Robinson, while not a lockdown defender, can also hold his own on defense. If Lee can continue to display the shooting stroke he did in college and put it together on defense, he’ll be well on his way to a path to the NBA.
