After not making the postseason last year, the San Antonio Spurs are looking to go into more of a rebuild mode. That being said, they had a very active off-season, as it included making trades, signing free agents, and drafting. What can we really expect from this team for the upcoming season?

Offseason Changes
The Spurs’ biggest offseason move was trading their best player away in DeMar DeRozan to the Chicago Bulls for Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, and a few picks. This was easily a huge win for the Spurs since they were able to get something for DeRozan instead of him just walking. Young and Aminu are both good-quality veterans, as they both can help mentor the younger players on this roster.
In terms of what the Spurs did during the off-season, they went out and signed many three-point shooters. The Spurs were able to sign players like Doug McDermott (40.7%), Bryn Forbes (45.2%), and Jock Landale. They also picked up Zach Collins.
In the draft this year, the San Antonio Spurs selected players like Joshua Primo and Joe Wieskamp, both of whom have shown many flashes in the past. Primo was a shock to the league since he was projected to go later in the draft, but he does have tremendous upside. He was the youngest player in the draft. For Wieskamp, he provides more three-point shooting since he shot 41% from behind the arc during college.
Overall for the Spurs, they addressed their needs by signing multiple players with the talent to shoot threes. By trading DeRozan, the Spurs are able to enter in a full rebuild mode now, and with the changes they made during the off-season, they’re looking good.
