The Philadelphia 76ers have revealed an exclusive ‘first of its kind’ arrangement with one of the US’s leading online sportsbooks. The 76ers have joined forces with FOX Bet, allowing the sportsbook’s brand to be part of its social media content in the coming years.
Philadelphia 76ers; FOX Bet Joining Forces
The 76ers are widely regarded as one of the most innovative NBA franchises in basketball, and this move will help give the franchise a more professional edge off the court.
As part of the agreement, FOX Bet will present game replays within seconds of real-time via the 76ers’ official Twitter handle. It will also become the Presenting Partner of the team’s official radio broadcast for all regular-season games on 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN).
Adam Davis, chief commercial officer of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, owners of the 76ers, welcomed the most to connect FOX Bet to the “passionate 76ers fan base” by providing “dynamic, digital content” that will “drive engagement” among the 76ers community on and offline.
As a consequence of this new-found tie-up, 76ers fans and NBA fans, in general, living in Pennsylvania and New Jersey have benefitted from exclusive FOX Bet promotions ever since the partnership was announced. Recently, legalized betting has become synonymous with the state of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also authorizes online poker in the state. Governor Tom Wolf passed a new law on online gaming in Pennsylvania back in October 2017.
These new commercial partnerships came before a very positive 2019-20 NBA campaign for the 76ers. Which augurs well for the next season. With an incredibly positive win ratio, Philadelphia reached the top six of the Eastern Conference. It’s certainly been a long time since the 76ers were celebrating at the top table of the NBA. They last won the NBA Championship back in 1983. The team’s last conference title was almost two decades ago (2001) too.
What the Future May Hold
Building on the positivity surrounding the 76ers’ roster from 2019-20 will be important in this offseason. The upcoming free agency period is likely to be somewhat quieter than last summer’s. The Sixers were on the look-out for players last year. They parted with big money for the likes of Al Horford, Tobias Harris, and Ben Simmons. The latter was recently named as part of the Sixers’ All-Decade team for 2010-20. This time around, Philadelphia won’t have so much room for maneuver in the wage department.
The main department that needs tweaking this summer is the Sixers’ shooting. Inaccurate shooting has plagued them for much of the 2019-20 season. It has stunted their chances of finishing even further up the Eastern Conference. Despite the potential in the shooting department, including the likes of Matisse Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz, a free agency shooter is likely to be high on the priority list for the Sixers’ hierarchy.
Bleacher Report recently published three potential shooter targets for the Sixers. Kyle Korver and Carmelo Anthony are thought to be the top two on the shopping list. Korver was drafted by the Sixers way back in 2003. His seasoned experience could be beneficial for at least another year. While Anthony is also thought to be on the radar.
A deal for Anthony might be less realistic. The Sixers have turned their nose up at signing him on several occasions through the years. On the whole, it’s just great to see the pride returning to Philly’s NBA franchise, as they continue to look up and not down.
