Arizona State Defeats San Francisco 71-67

For the second straight game, Arizona State won a 71-67 thriller over San Francisco despite being one-point underdogs. It was a very fun game to watch with 12 lead changes in the second half. Romello White was the best player for the Sun Devils scoring 14 points and made a huge shot to put them up 70-66 with 1:29 left. This was a good win for Arizona State because San Francisco is 7-2 and they are expected to complete near the top of the West Coast Conference.

Arizona State Beats San Francisco in Thrilling Back-and-Forth Game

Game Recap

In this great non-conference game, neither team could seem to seize control. The biggest lead of the game was Arizona State by seven. Remy Martin had an off shooting game only making four of his 15 shots. He even had four turnovers. White totaled 14 points on a very efficient 6-for-7 shooting. The bench was huge for the Sun Devils as Taeshon Cherry, Kimani Lawrence and Jalen Graham combined for 26 points that were a huge boost in this game. Without that bench production, San Francisco pulls away in this game. Rob Edwards continues to struggle shooting from the field going only connecting on two of his eight shots.

Arizona State did a great job at defending Jordan Ratinho; he didn’t make, shot finishing 0-10 from the field. However, San Francisco got balanced scoring from two of its starters and a bench player. Josh Kunen had 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Jamaree Bouyea had 17 points on 7-11 from the field. Khalil Shabazz had 15 points off the bench.

The Difference

Both teams were almost even in rebounds and turnovers. However, the Sun Devils shot better from the field and had a higher three-point percentage.  Arizona State edged San Francisco 42-41 in rebounds and outshot San Francisco 41.9 percent to 36.4 percent. Arizona State shot 41.6 percent from three while San Francisco shot 28.6 percent. Coming into this game San Francisco was ranked 2nd in three-pointers taken. Arizona State did a great job defending them.

Looking Ahead
