The 2019 NBA season has been underway for just over a month now and as we get deeper into the season NBA trade rumors arise. Many teams require a player or two to strengthen their roster. Some just want to get rid of their bad contracts before the trade deadline. While none of these rumors are set in stone it is entirely possible that one or all of these could happen at some point during the season.
NBA Trade Rumors from Around the NBA
Aaron Gordon to the San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have received plenty of trade speculation as of late. Recently Dan Favale over at Bleacher Report suggested a potential blockbuster trade involving Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon. In return for Gordon, he has the Spurs sending over DeMar DeRozan as well as Marco Belinelli.
This trade is entirely possible since both of these teams are in need of some major changes. Both teams possess a great deal of talent, but neither are performing at a very high level this season. This trade may be exactly what each team needs.
For the Magic, they desperately need help in their backcourt. Trading for a player of DeRozan’s caliber may help them ascend from mediocrity.
For the Spurs, it’s very clear what they have isn’t working. Instead of keeping a player like DeRozan who clearly doesn’t fit in their system they can move on for a younger option with more potential
Marcus Morris on the Move
Marcus Morris’ trade value may be on the rise in the coming months which could easily tempt the New York Knicks to make a move. Joseph Nocco over at Clutch Points highlighted Morris as a player the Knick’s should trade before the deadline. While Morris is currently performing quite well for the Knicks, it is quite clear that they will not be a contender this season. In their current state, the Knicks need to be focused on rebuilding. Trading a player like Morris could net them some valuable assets for their upcoming rebuild.
Some teams Morris could be traded to include the Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, and the Houston Rockets. All three of these teams are expected to be contenders this season and could all use a player of Morris’ caliber.
Chris Paul to the San Antonio Spurs for DeMar DeRozan
It’s no secret that Chris Paul has been on the trade market for quite some time now. Dan Favale from Bleacher Report listed a possible trade involving Paul for DeRozan and Belinelli. Initially, it may seem like a bad idea for the Spurs to get involved with this trade. This trade, however, could end up being beneficial for both teams.
For the Oklahoma City Thunder, it’s a dream scenario. They would get to unload an expensive contract and acquire two new scoring threats. It may even be enough for a return to the playoffs.
For the Spurs, it’s clear they need something new to even have a chance at the playoffs this season. Paul would add a defensive presence that is currently missing on their roster. He may end up being the perfect team player and possibly help them maintain their 22-year playoff streak.
While none of these NBA trade rumors are set in stone, they are quite possible. Teams need to make a change and these players can help do so. Don’t be surprised if any or all of these trades occur somewhere down the road.
