Newly acquired Brooklyn Nets forward Taurean Prince pens a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets on a two-year, $29 million deal. The Nets signed the forward the Monday. That came before the 6 PM ET deadline for members of the 2016 draft class to sign their extensions. Prince will be pivotal for the Nets as Kevin Durant continues to rehab from his torn Achilles injury.

Taurean Prince was part of a roster overhaul by the Brooklyn Nets and was part of a trade that sent Allen Crabbe and the #17 pick of the NBA Draft to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the Baylor forward. Prince is looking for a bounce-back season with the Nets after not being able to follow-up his rookie campaign. He is off to a good start with his new team. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in the preseason.
The Nets have now locked in two promising forwards this summer in Taurean Prince and Caris LeVert. With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on their books and Jarrett Allen‘s impending contract extension, Nets general manager Sean Marks is in pole position to keep his core intact while looking to build on a playoff appearance.

The Nets are one of the Eastern Conference contenders this season. Prince will be key to spacing the floor and adding length in the frontcourt together with Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan. He is suited well especially when Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson decides to play small-ball.
Prince was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors as a senior and received the Big 12 Sixth Man Award as a junior while at Baylor.
