The Utah Jazz and Coach Quin Snyder have agreed to a long-term extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Snyder had two years remaining on his current deal. The new contract extends ‘multiple years’ beyond his current deal. It is unclear the number of years on the deal. Snyder has been at the helm for the Jazz for six years.

After having an incredible offseason, the Jazz is ready to keep their coach for years to come. The team had a very underrated offseason in comparison to other teams. Mike Conley was traded from the Memphis Grizzles. Bojan Bogdanovic spurned the Indiana Pacers deal to come to add some shooting and space. Jeff Green, Ed Davis, and Emmanuel Mudiay also signed contracts to join Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and Joe Ingles.
Snyder, 52, has quietly become one of the elite coaches in the NBA. He has led the Jazz to the playoffs for the past three years. The first year he had Gobert and All-Star Gordon Hayward. After Hayward left for the Boston Celtics, the feeling around the Jazz fans was another rebuild. The following season, Mitchell was drafted and Snyder coached this team to the second round of the playoffs. This past season, the Jazz lost the Houston Rockets in the first round.
The Jazz extended Snyder two years ago. At that time he had two years remaining on his deal. This extension should keep Snyder in Utah for a very long time.
Snyder currently has a record of 227-183(.554) in the six years with the Jazz. Snyder was known as an offensive mind in the NBA when the Jazz hired him. However, the team’s defensive ratings have been incredible. The Jazz has had a top-five rated defense for the last three years, and they were number one in 2016-17
Since the Jazz left New Orleans in the 1979-80 season, Snyder has only been the fifth coach to lead the team in Utah. Coach Snyder has the opportunity to become an all-time coach for the state of Utah. All he needs to do is try and get past a guy named Jerry Sloan.
