With the NBA season coming fast, it’s time to get your bets in on season win-totals. This look at the Southeast division win totals will help you better place your bets and make some money. These win total over/under numbers are courtesy of Bovada.
NBA Southeast Division Win Totals
Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks finished last season strong behind the leadership of rookie point guard Trae Young. The over/under win total for Atlanta is set at 33.5.
That feels like a number that could easily land on either side of the coin depending on many factors. However, the Hawks will continue on their upward trajectory and will surpass this win total.
Young will take the next step, as will John Collins and the team will be better off after having drafted Cam Reddish to pair with Young in the backcourt.
On top of their players improving, Atlanta will take advantage of playing in the worst division in basketball, which will enable them to improve their win total by at least five games from last season.
Charlotte Hornets
The over/under for the Charlotte Hornets is set at 23.5, and frankly, that number can’t be put low enough.
Kemba Walker has been the face of the franchise, which still hasn’t led to anything, and now he’s gone. Now, the team will be led by Terry Rozier.
The only thing Charlotte has working in its favor in terms of passing this over/under win total is playing in this division. However, Charlotte will be the worst team in basketball and will fail to reach the over/under of 23.5 wins.
Miami Heat
The over/under win total for the Miami Heat is set at 43.5. This one might be the toughest in the division.
The Heat are coming off of a season that saw them only win 39 games and their franchise icon Dwyane Wade retire. However, they did go out and add Jimmy Butler in the offseason. On top of Butler, they traded for Meyers Leonard, who played well in the Western Conference Finals and drafted Tyler Herro, who they seem to like.
Miami is also a team people can generally count on. They’re a very well-run franchise with a top head coach in Erik Spoelstra.
However, for Miami to surpass this win total they will end up needing development from within. That will need to come from guys like Bam Adebayo and Justise Winslow.
Miami will end up passing this win total, just barely. With Spoelstra, they will come to play every night in the regular season. Also, Butler’s mindset on a rather young team will be beneficial, at least at first.
Orlando Magic
The Orland Magic surprised people last season, winning 42 games and then actually taking game one of the first-round in Toronto against the eventual NBA champions. Was that just a flash in the pan or are the Magic poised for a breakout? The over/under win total is set at 41.5.
Orlando will surpass this win total. They are a well-coached team that will show up to play every night. To go with that, their players will continue to develop, making them a better team.
With them showing up to play every night, the Magic will also take advantage of playing a weak division and getting four games each against the Wizards, Hornets, Hawks, and Heat.
The ceiling isn’t much higher than this win total, and they won’t blow it away. But them taking every regular-season game seriously will be enough.
Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards are in a similar spot as the Hornets. The over/under win total for Washington is set at 27.5. However, don’t go smashing the under just yet.
Washington is not going to be good, and they will likely be without John Wall all season due to a ruptured Achilles. However, they still do have Bradley Beal, who is one of the better shooting guards in the league.
Washington’s over/under is only four more wins than Charlotte and Charlotte doesn’t have a player nearly the caliber of Beal.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Beal be dealt at some point during the season, but as of now he’s still on the roster and will be playing for them.
With that being said, lay your money on the under with Washington. Beal is capable of doing a lot of damage, but outside of him and with Wall being out, there’s not much talent on the roster.
