The Los Angeles Clippers have been quiet during trade talks this season, but LA made a little noise at the deadline with a few moves. The Clippers made some small moves while trying to construct a roster to compete in the playoffs. While these may not be shocking or sexy trades that LA has made, there is some potential with the new pieces that is to be looked at. A trade that the Clippers completed saw them acquire a reliable shooter from the Atlanta Hawks.
Clippers Make Trades for Bogdanovic, Role Players at Deadline
Bogdan Bogdanovic and three second-round picks are being traded to LA with the Hawks receiving Terance Mann and Bones Hyland. Bogdanovic is now in his eighth season in the league as he joins his third team in the NBA. This season, Bogdanovic is having his worst year, at least statistically. However, his career average of 14.4 points and career 38% accuracy from long range can help LA off the bench. He has an 88% free throw percentage this season which can also be crucial in clutch time to close out games.

Mann has been a beloved member of the Clippers since being drafted in 2019. The six-year veteran out of Florida State has averaged 8.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for his career. Mann was at his best in the 2021 playoffs against the Utah Jazz. In a playoff-clinching game, Mann scored a career-high 39 points with seven made threes. Mann was a role player who not only played his heart out for LA but also contributed to the community. It helped make him a fan favorite for Clippers fans.
Smaller Trades that Impact the Clippers
Another move by the Clippers at the deadline involved guard Kevin Porter Jr. being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for forward MarJon Beauchamp. LA moves away from Porter Jr. who may have been one of the more active players off the bench for the team. Through 45 games, Porter Jr. is averaging a career-low 9.3 points while shooting 42.3% from the field. The left-handed wingman is traded for Beauchamp, who has only contributed about a bucket per game for the Bucks.
Just a few days ago, the Clippers made a small, but interesting trade involving veteran PJ Tucker. Both Tucker and Mo Bamba were traded to the Utah Jazz for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills. A second-round pick was also sent to Utah that reunites Mills and Kawhi Leonard from their championship days with the San Antonio Spurs. As for Tucker, he’s been traded to three different teams within the past few days and is now with the Toronto Raptors (for now).
What Clippers’ Playoff Hopes Look Like Now
As for the current state of the Clippers, they are just above the play-in spots with a 28-22 record. There is about a week left until the All-Star break. The Clippers hope to establish a solid record before the road to the playoffs begins. The division race is also up for grabs with the battle for Los Angeles being separated by just two games. While in a tight race to remain a guaranteed playoff team, the Clippers will have to keep up their winning ways with two months left in the season.
