Former NBA Hopeful Lands Huge Music Deal After Viral Song

LiAngelo Ball is back! The middle brother of NBA players Lonzo and LaMelo Ball has finally gotten his big payday. The catch is that he landed his first big contract in the music industry, not in the NBA. The former professional basketball player has signed a huge record deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group, reportedly worth up to $13 million. According to representatives from his label, Born2Ball Music Group, the deal includes $8 million guaranteed and gives Ball full ownership of his music and his own record label. The viral LiAngelo Ball song, “Tweaker” has officially taken the world by storm.

Ball Family Making Headlines Again

The Ball family has been in the headlines ever since they came onto the basketball scene. It started with a legendary high school team with three brothers and a loud, bold father. Then came Big Baller Brand, reality shows, and much more. Now, two of the three brothers are making a career as NBA players. The eldest, Lonzo Ball, was once a highly-anticipated prospect who has had his career somewhat derailed by injuries. LaMelo Ball, the youngest, is already a former NBA All-Star and one of the most exciting players in the game.

LiAngelo has never been able to crack into the league and make a roster. He lacked the speed and athleticism of his brothers and never had enough of a shot to make it as a wing in the NBA. Despite signing training camp deals with the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets from 2020-22, he never secured a spot on a regular-season NBA roster. In 31 games with the Greensboro Swarm, the G League affiliate of the Hornets, he averaged 4.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game. So, while LiAngelo continues to try to make a basketball career, he released “Tweaker”, his latest rap single.

LiAngelo Ball Song “Tweaker” Becomes A Hit

The Ball family isn’t new to the rap game. Lonzo, currently a guard for the Chicago Bulls, has a few songs of his own. This includes “Zo2,” which was used to promote his Big Baller Brand signature shoe.

As of January 13, “Tweaker” had climbed to nearly 8 million views on YouTube. “Tweaker” has captured the attention from high-profile artists like Lil Yachty and has been played in arenas and locker rooms. The momentum behind “Tweaker” has also sparked interest from prominent rappers eager to collaborate on a remix. Artists like MoneyBagg Yo, T-Pain, Lil Yachty, Meek Mill, and Lil Boosie have all expressed admiration for the track and a desire to be involved in its remix.

LiAngelo Scores A Payday

“Tweaker” helped LiAngelo sign a deal reportedly worth up to $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed. Rolling Loud California recently announced LiAngelo as part of its March lineup. LiAngelo’s performance is a huge step in his early music career.

The transition from basketball to music represents a significant pivot for LiAngelo, but one that reflects his determination to chart his own path. His father, LaVar Ball, was once a dominant figure in the public eye, promoting the basketball careers of his three sons and co-founding Big Baller Brand. However, as LaVar’s presence has waned, LiAngelo has stepped into the spotlight in his own unique way.
